What families should know

Surgery is one part of a coordinated care plan

Childhood cancer treatment almost always involves a team — a pediatric oncologist, surgeon, radiologist and, at times, radiation specialists — working together. Dr. H.P.S. Miglani’s role focuses on the surgical component: biopsy, tumour removal, and any related surgical procedures, coordinated closely with your child’s broader treatment team.

If your family is in Amritsar, this means the surgical part of your child’s care can be handled locally by an experienced pediatric surgeon, working alongside oncology specialists to avoid unnecessary delays in an already difficult time.

In plain language

What is pediatric cancer surgery?

Pediatric cancer surgery involves procedures used in diagnosing and treating solid tumours in children — including biopsy to confirm a diagnosis, and surgical removal of a tumour as part of the overall treatment plan.

Childhood cancers behave differently from adult cancers, and often respond very well to treatment. Surgery is typically just one part of a broader plan that may also include chemotherapy or other treatments, guided by your child’s pediatric oncology team.

Quick answer: Pediatric cancer surgery includes biopsy and tumour removal procedures in children, performed as one part of a coordinated treatment plan alongside pediatric oncology specialists.
