Why this matters for your child

Critical care designed around a child's physiology

A child’s — and especially a newborn’s — vital signs, fluid needs, and pain response are very different from an adult’s. Surgical intensive care for children requires monitoring equipment, medication dosing, and a care team specifically experienced in this age group.

Miglani Hospital’s surgical ICU allows children in Amritsar to recover from major surgery, or be supported through a critical illness, with close monitoring locally — without needing to be transferred to other big cities or metro cities.

In plain language

What is a pediatric & neonatal surgical ICU?

A surgical intensive care unit provides close, continuous monitoring for children and newborns who need extra support after a major surgery, or who are critically unwell and need round-the-clock medical attention.

This includes monitoring of vital signs, pain management, nutrition support, and rapid response to any changes in your child’s condition — all provided by a team experienced specifically in pediatric and neonatal critical care.

Quick answer: A surgical ICU provides continuous, closely monitored care for children and newborns recovering from major surgery or facing a critical illness, using equipment and protocols suited to their age.
